Welcome to this charged & challenging practice. Pushing our limits and testing our endurance. The practice starts with alignment-based Surya Namaskars interspersed with hips, groins, legs and spine variations. We then move to the wall for a burst of Urdhva Mukha Vrksasanas and shoulder openings making us ready for a 12 minute exploration of the Sirsasana Cycle. The sequence then moves through a series of Forward Bends from Krounchasana to Parivrtta Janu Sirsasana (and more), culminating in a veritable skin/muscle/organ stretching Padmasana Cycle which leads us into twists: Marichyasana III, Ardha Matsendrasana, Pasasana. These are followed by Uttanpadasana – the coiling of the upper back – preparing us for a beautiful, wildly opening set of Chair Backbends. After this we get to restore and recover in a blissful 15 min. Chair Sarvanasana/ Halasana (and many variations) which lead us into gentle supine relaxers (Supta Padangusthasana and Jathara Parivartanasana) before our final absolutely blissful Savasana!
