Deep Stretch Yoga for Hips & Shoulders| 12-min Yin Yoga to Open Tight Hips & Shoulders

Join me for this deep stretch yoga routine for hips and shoulders. In this yin yoga routine, we’ll do long hold yoga poses (2-4 minutes) so you can get a deep stretch to open tight hips and increase hip flexibility.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin yoga is referred to as the yoga of the joints. The emphasis in Yin Yoga is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissues such as fascia, ligaments, and tendons, which surround and form your joints. In Yin Yoga, we practice long holds. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.

The 3 principles of Yin Yoga:
1. Find your edge
2. Commit to stillness
3. Allow time for a long hold

Only go to 80% of your capacity in yin yoga.

Use as many props as needed in Yin Yoga. Blocks, bolsters, and straps are all great ways to support your body while respecting its limitations and staying at your appropriate edge.
